Emotional Fallout Behind the Scenes? FBI Fans Fear Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki May Be Leaving

FBI fans are growing increasingly nervous after a fresh wave of online speculation suggested that longtime stars Missy Peregrym and Zeeko Zaki could be heading toward emotional exits from the hit CBS drama.

The concern exploded across social media following the intense Season 8 finale, which left OA isolated on a dangerous undercover assignment while Maggie continued struggling with the emotional fallout from devastating personal losses. Many viewers now believe the show may be quietly setting up major cast changes behind the scenes — even though there has been no official confirmation that either actor plans to leave the series.

The biggest trigger for fan anxiety was the shocking cliffhanger involving OA. During the finale, the character appeared to be publicly fired from the FBI before secretly going undercover inside a dangerous covert operation. While the twist initially terrified viewers, recent interviews strongly indicate that OA remains central to Season 9’s story rather than exiting the show.

In fact, Zeeko Zaki himself recently discussed how excited he is to explore OA operating “on a different team” while eventually finding his way back to the core unit dynamic. Still, fans noticed that several of his comments carried an unusually emotional tone, which immediately fueled theories that the actor could eventually transition into the expanding FBI franchise universe — or possibly appear less frequently on the flagship series.

At the same time, concern surrounding Missy Peregrym has also intensified. Maggie Bell’s recent storyline has pushed the character into some of the darkest emotional territory the series has ever explored. After the brutal death of Maggie’s sister earlier this season, Peregrym openly admitted that filming those episodes affected her deeply emotionally. Her character later stepped away from active duty temporarily while dealing with grief and trauma, leading many viewers to fear the writers were preparing a long-term exit arc.

Although Maggie did return to the field, fans remain suspicious because FBI has increasingly leaned into emotionally heavy storylines involving its original cast. Online discussions have become filled with theories suggesting CBS could reduce appearances from certain veteran actors as the franchise restructures around the upcoming CIA spinoff and broader scheduling changes.

Reddit discussions especially reveal how nervous the fandom has become. Some viewers fear OA’s undercover storyline may separate him from the main team for much longer than expected, while others worry the writers are slowly preparing for cast rotations or budget-related reductions in screen time. One fan even admitted they got “bad vibes” from recent interviews and worried the emotional tone surrounding OA and Maggie felt unusually final.

Despite all the speculation, however, there is still no credible evidence that either Missy Peregrym or Zeeko Zaki is officially leaving FBI. Recent Season 9 coverage continues to position both Maggie and OA as core parts of the future storyline. The emotional intensity of the recent episodes may simply reflect the writers pushing the characters into more dangerous and psychologically complex territory rather than preparing permanent exits.

Still, longtime fans understand why the rumors feel believable. After eight seasons together, Maggie and OA have become the emotional backbone of FBI, and even temporary separation between them dramatically changes the feeling of the show. That emotional uncertainty is exactly why viewers are reacting so strongly now — because the idea of losing either character feels almost impossible for many fans to imagine.
